Parents of Students of Color

The Parents of Students of Color (POSOC) mission is to provide a place of reflection, dialogue, and support for parents of students of color. The group seeks to promote an atmosphere of academic achievement, mutual respect, acceptance, and empowerment while building a greater sense of community for our students of color within the full spectrum of the live and activities at USM. Per the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS), "students of color" includes children from Black/African American, Asian American, Middle-Eastern American, American Indian/Native American, Latino/Hispanic, Pacific Islander, and multiracial backgrounds.

2022-23 Meetings

All POSOC meetings will take place in the USM Alumni Room, and will take place from 6:30 to 8 p.m. unless noted otherwise. Months that do not feature a member meeting will instead feature a social event, with those details shared with community members separately. The meetings for the 2022-23 school year are as follows:

  • Tuesday, Oct. 11
  • Wednesday, Dec. 14
  • Tuesday, Feb. 7
  • Tuesday, April 18
  • Monday, June 5
