Alumni Discuss Their Careers in Law

University School of Milwaukee Upper School students and alumni were invited to attend a virtual panel discussion with several alumni who work in the legal field. The panel featured Smitha Chintamaneni ’96, shareholder and co-chair of the real estate section at von Briesen and Roper; Jeffrey Glen MCDS ’58, shareholder at Anderson Kill; and Neville Reid ’79, capital partner and co-chair at Fox Swibel Levin and Carroll. It was moderated by Susan Zarwell ’87, USM’s director of College Guidance.

Panelists represented a number of law specialties and spoke on a variety of topics, including how they became interested in working as a lawyer and in their areas of law; personality traits that serve them well in their jobs; and how they balance demanding careers with other aspects of their lives. They shared advice for students who might be interested in careers in law, such as having strong communication skills, learning how to ask questions, being able to set and manage expectations, and being able to advocate for yourself and your clients.

The panel discussion is part of a series of events that feature individuals from various career fields who discuss how they got to where they are today and share tips for students interested in those fields.
