Artwork from the Class of 2029 on Display

A new exhibit is currently on display in the Werner Family Art Gallery, featuring work from the Class of 2029. The exhibit is titled “The MKE I Wish to See,” and it features student-designed sculptures made of recycled and reclaimed materials.

Students began working on their projects last year during their 4th grade art classes with Christina Dresang, Lower School art teacher. They started by investigating the purposes behind buildings and other works of architecture that exist in our area. They then identified gaps and areas where our community could improve to better serve the people within it. Students were asked to consider and discuss the following: What does a community need to thrive? How can a community come together? What does the community value? How can our community be more sustainable?

Based on these discussions, the students then created a sculpture of their architectural design using only recycled and reclaimed materials, that would meet a need and serve an important purpose within the community.

The exhibit will remain on display through November 17.
