Bruce Lee ’81 Named 2022 Commencement Speaker

Bruce Lee ’81 has been named the speaker for University School of Milwaukee’s 2022 Commencement. Lee is the Founder of Keebeck Wealth Management and has 33 years of investment experience alongside some of the world’s largest financial institutions. He is also the source of the company’s namesake. Keebeck, Lee’s given name by his first-generation U.S. immigrant parents, means “to ascend” in Korean.

Lee attended USM for just one year—his senior year—but believes the experience reset the trajectory of his life and reignited his love of learning. “I was intimidated to be starting new, but I wanted
something more than what I was getting at a large public high school,” he said. Looking back, Lee believes that it was the intimate parent-teacher-student interaction that set USM apart. “When all three work together as a team, the outcome is a better education,” he says.

Lee was named to the Barron’s “Top 100 Financial Advisors” list every year since 2007, the Barron’s “Top 1,200 Financial Advisors” list in 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018, and the Financial Times’ “Top 400 Financial Advisors” in 2014.

Lee credits much of his career success to skills he learned at USM—including an ability to work well in teams and to communicate effectively. “These are indispensable skills that ultimately distinguish truly effective people in the marketplace,” he says. “USM is about big ideas, not big egos. USM graduates are the people you want on your team.”

He currently sits on the boards of venture capital firms InvisionAZ and Blank Ventures. Previously, he served on USM’s Board of Trustees, and on the board of the John G. Shedd Aquarium, and The DuPage Community Foundation. Lee and his wife, Jennifer, along with their two daughters, Mia and Lauren, live in Chicago, Illinois.

USM’s Commencement exercises will be held on Friday, June 10 from 8 to 10 p.m. on the school’s Ken Laird Field. In the event of inclement weather, Commencement will move indoors to the Upper School gymnasium.
