University School of Milwaukee students enjoyed a week of spirit-building activities and athletic events during the annual Homecoming celebration.
Throughout the week, students enjoyed a variety of events, including the Middle School Jamboree, athletic events, spirit wear days, an all-school outdoor cook out, a Pete’s Pops recess treat for Middle School students, cookies and lemonade with Head of School Steve Hancock and his wife, Stephanie, and more. On Tuesday, Sept. 21, Upper School students visited their Lower School friends to decorate sprit signs for the all-school pep rally and athletic events.
The all-school pep rally on Friday, Sept. 24 provided ample entertainment and included class cheers, a pie-eating contest, a first-ever performance by the USM dance team, and fire breathing by Chef Ramos from Flik Independent School Dining. The school spirit propelled the varsity football team to a victory against Saint Thomas More, with a score of 22–14. Prior to the football game, students and families were invited to an all-school cook out.
On Saturday, Sept. 25, USM Athletics and the USM Alumni Association hosted a rededication of Liz Krieg Field, which received new artificial turf in August, before the Tessa Nowakowski ’10 varsity field hockey game. The annual game honors the memory of Tessa Nowakowski ’10, an outstanding student and athlete, who passed away in 2009. USM’s field hockey team continued their impressive winning streak with a final score of 2–0 against University Lake School.
Thank you to all event attendees for helping to make Homecoming 2021 a success!
