Students Learn About Careers in Technology

Upper School students were invited to join a virtual panel discussion with two alumni who work in technology. The panel featured Kyle Kaliebe ’03 and Hannah Lubar ’10, and was moderated by Susan Zarwell ’87, USM’s director of College Guidance.

Kaliebe completed his bachelor’s in computer science at Case Western Reserve University in 2006. He has held technical and business-focused positions in a wide range of industries including finance, health care, education, sales, parking, real estate, and event planning. These include Isaacs Parking, OhioLINK, The Ohio State University, OhioHealth, various nonprofits, and startups. He is currently a senior software consultant with the Crescendo Collective, a digital marketing company

Lubar is a program manager at Meta (Facebook), working in the news feed integrity space. She is the operations expert on a team that works to make the Facebook app a more safe and uplifting space for users by reducing bad experiences and problematic/low-quality content on the news feed. Prior to Meta, Hannah was a consultant with Accenture Strategy, after graduating from Brown University in 2014.

Panelists covered their paths into the tech industry, the nature of their work, and advice for USM students and alumni interested in working in that field. There was a Q&A session that followed the presentations.

The panel discussion is part of a series of events that feature individuals from various careers who discuss how they got to where they are today, what they do on a daily basis, and any tips they have for students interested in that field. The event was hosted by USM’s College Guidance office, Alumni office, and the USM Internship and Shadowing program.
