USM Shines at State Track and Field Meet

Members of University School of Milwaukee’s varsity track and field team competed at the WIAA state track and field meet June 3 and 4. Congratulations to the entire team for an outstanding season! 

Boys
1,600 meter

Drew Stephens ’22 earned 4th place with a time of 4:16.99.
Thomas Stephens ’22 earned 10th place with a time of 4:25.56.

3,200 meter
Drew Stephens ’22 earned 2nd place with a time of 9:05.32.
Thomas Stephens ’22 earned 5th place with a time of 9:25.24.

Girls
1,600 meter

Mya Hartjes ’23 earned 3rd place with a time of 5:08.17.
Annie Norman ’25 earned 9th place with a time of 5:18.77.

3,200 meter
Mya Hartjes ’23 earned 4th place with a time of 11:04.88. 
Bella Grenier ’25 earned 6th place with a time of 11:08.42.

4x800 relay
The team of Mya Hartjes ’23, Bella Grennier ’25, Izze Keller ’25, and Annie Norman ’25 placed 8th and set a new school record with a time of 9:59.32, making it the fifth school record broken by Hartjes ’23 this school year. Previously, she broke school records in the 1,600-meter race (5:10.43), in cross country (18:48.65), and in girls basketball as the all-time leading scorer for that program. In addition, the same 4x800 relay team that placed 8th at state, set the previous school record for that event with a time of 10:04.64 at a meet on May 7. 

Triple Jump
Sydney Moore ’22 earned 11th place with a 34’ 8.25” finish.
