Haiyun Lu Presents at Language Conference
Haiyun Lu, Upper School Chinese teacher at University School of Milwaukee, led a session during the Voces Spring Conference. Lu gave a cooking demonstration for attendees, not only teaching them how to make a delicious meal, but also how to incorporate a country’s culture and food into the classroom. Whether using a pre-recorded cooking show or giving a demonstration with hot plates, Lu demonstrated how to give students a broader understanding of a country’s culture through both language and food.
As an Upper School world languages teacher at USM, Lu often incorporates food into her classroom teaching—to the delight of her students and colleagues!
