Learning That’s for the Birds

Learning That’s for the Birds

Preschool students were visited by special guests from the Schlitz Audubon Nature Center on Wednesday, March 1: Tucker, the Eastern screech owl; Nicco, the broad-winged hawk; and Otis, the peregrine falcon. Tucker, Nicco, and Otis all sustained injuries that made them unable to be released back into the wild. They now serve as educational ambassadors with Schlitz Audubon to teach students about wildlife conservation.

Students learned a variety of facts about them, including what they eat, where they live, and how they see and hear. Many thanks to Schlitz Audubon and Emily Vertacnik ’07, Preschool outdoor education teacher, who arranged the visit.
