"Little Shop of Horrors" Premieres Tonight

University School of Milwaukee Upper School thespians are presenting “Little Shop of Horrors,” tonight and tomorrow, and March 3–4. Tickets are still available for the musical, which is a satirized, alien invasion comedic romp. The large production, directed by Mark Edwards, was further assisted by a talented team of Upper School teachers including Dr. Dain Shuler, who arranged music by hand and led the on-stage string players; Ellen Shuler, who led the nine Greek chorus students (as opposed to the usual three); and Joshua Miller, who, along with his students, designed and built an outstanding set.

"We have an incredible team of skilled directors who lead with love and empower their students to embody independence, culminating in a group of student directors," said Edwards. "There are so many examples that stem from our entire team with a mutual end objective; we want our students to experience an ensemble synergy that can only occur in the theatrical arts, and to become ethical leaders within that framework. By that measurement, this show is a monumental success."

The show may be too mature for younger audiences; please see a plot summary here.
