Teachers Present at Annual Conference

Several teachers from University School of Milwaukee attended the Independent Schools Association of the Central States (ISACS) 2022 annual conference held recently in St. Paul, Minnesota, and three of the teachers presented at the event. Fourth grade teachers Laura Blanchet and Leann Erickson presented on the history of the 4th grade Tower Project program at USM, described each phase of the Tower Project in more detail to attendees, and also shared their resources. “We had previously shared this same presentation at the ISACS annual conference in 2019, and we had a returning guest in 2022 because she was so intrigued the first time,” said Blanchet. “There was a lot of positive buzz around the room with questions and interest.”

Meanwhile, Upper School Librarian Laura Klein presented on USM’s Tower Project program as it relates to all three divisions, including describing the essential components and the skills that kids develop. She also shared more detailed information related to Upper School students’ Tower Project experience.

About Tower Projects
Tower Projects are student-centered, teacher-nurtured, school-supported experiential learning opportunities in the 4th, 8th, and 12th grades. They are a way for students to pursue their own interests and take their learning beyond the boundaries of the classroom to solve real-world issues through an interdisciplinary, community-based approach.
