Entrepreneurship Club Hosts Greg Marcus

Upper School student members of the University School of Milwaukee Entrepreneurship Club welcomed a special guest on Tuesday, Feb. 6: Greg Marcus, CEO of the Marcus Corporation, a leader in the lodging and entertainment industries headquartered in Milwaukee. More than 100 students gathered in Mellowes Hall as Marcus was interviewed by Cristián Barrutia ’26, president of the Entrepreneurship Club, which launched this school year.

Marcus shared personal stories, experiences, and what it is like to manage a family business. He also offered advice for students as they start to think about their next steps after USM. “You’ll feel a lot of pressure to think you’ve got it all figured out by the time you’re 22 or 23,” he said. “That’s the time to actually look around and try new things and to discover what it is you want.” He also encouraged students to build a strong foundation in something that can have a broad application to a variety of fields, and he mentioned how earning his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Indiana University in 1986 supported him in a variety of fields and roles. The audience found him fun and engaging, much like he is on the big screen in welcome message before movies at their many Marcus Theatres locations across 17 states.

Club members look forward to learning more about entrepreneurship through the experiences and advice of established entrepreneurs and other business leaders.
