Members of University School of Milwaukee’s MATHCOUNTS team earned second place overall in a regional competition held on Saturday, Feb. 3 at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Congratulations to the following students who participated: Joseph Amiot ’29, Nina Sugiyama Carter ’30, Ayan Iyengar ’29, Jind Kaur ’28, Sophie Kouklin ’29, Iris Liu ’28, Kiran Ramanujam ’29, Manu Samantaray ’28, Jiyan Singh ’30, Mishee Singh ’30, Sudarshan Tallam ’30, and Sam Yuan ’29.
Approximately 75 students from Milwaukee-area middle schools competed and, of those, USM had six students who ranked in the top 25% of the Milwaukee region: Liu ranked 2nd, Jiyan Singh ranked 4th, Kaur ranked 8th, Iyengar ranked 10th, Ramanujam ranked 12th, and Yuan ranked 17th.
Of those who competed at regionals, four are advancing to the state competition in March: Liu, Kaur, Jiyan Singh, and Yuan.
