REDgen Speaker Presents on Raising Resilient Children

University School of Milwaukee hosted its first speaker series event of the 2023–24 school year through its partnership with REDgen on Thursday, Oct. 19 with Sheri Glucoft Wong. Wong held an evening event titled “Raising Resilient Kids,” which was free and open to the general public, and was supported in part by the school’s Parents’ Association. She spoke about attitudes and approaches that support children’s emotional and social development and encourage confidence and resilience. Wong also held a session for USM teachers during the school’s in-service day on Friday, Oct. 20, where she spoke about fostering the important partnership between teachers and parents.

Wong is a family therapist, parenting expert, consultant, and author of “Raising Kids: Your Essential Guide to Everyday Parenting.” She provides consultation and training to a range of professionals including teachers, school administrators, counselors, physicians, psychotherapists, clergy, attorneys, and corporate managers.

The USM/REDgen Speaker Series is a partnership between University School of Milwaukee and REDgen, a Milwaukee-based organization which fosters active community conversations around what it means to live a healthy, balanced life with authentic success. This is the seventh year of the partnership and speaker series events. More information on speakers who visited USM in previous years can be found here.

The next REDgen Speaker Series event at USM, on Tuesday, Nov. 28, will feature Rosalind Wiseman and is titled “Bridging the Generational Divide.”
