USM Highlights Black Authors During Black History Month

University School of Milwaukee students, faculty, and staff were invited by the school’s librarians to participate in Black History Month project honoring Black authors. In celebration of this year’s theme, “African Americans and the Arts,” each division’s library asked individuals to submit the names of Black authors and/or poets they enjoy, and whose work they feel inspired by, as well as a brief quote explaining why they selected that individual.

The submissions were then highlighted into a poster featuring quotes and book covers and displayed in each division’s library. Many thanks to our school librarians Judy Clegg, Laura Klein, and Ivana Rentería, for their work to make this project happen.

USM has hosted many Black authors and artists, including:

Arshay Cooper
