USM Hosts "I Am Not Invisible" Exhibit

For two weeks in May, the Middle School library at University School of Milwaukee hosted a traveling exhibit titled “I Am Not Invisible.” The exhibit, consisting of indoor, pop-up banners, featured photos and stories of female military veterans from the Milwaukee area, shedding light on their experiences serving in the armed forces.

On Friday, May 24, students were visited by two of the women featured in the exhibit: Tiffany Koehler and Marcia Cunningham. They spoke to 8th grade students about their experiences in the military, encouraged them to consider the military as a future career path, and answered questions. Their visit, and the exhibit, coincided with the school’s March to the Memorials celebration on Friday, May 24, as well as the school’s dedication of a new monument to military service, a gift from families of the Class of 2024 graduates.

Many thanks to Ivana Rentería, Middle School librarian, for organizing the exhibit, and Sean Clark, education program director from the War Memorial Center of Milwaukee for helping to bring the exhibit to USM.
