Angela Wang ’26 Wins State in Singles

At the 2023 State Girls Individual Tennis Tournament on Saturday, Oct. 14, second-seeded Angela Wang ’26 defeated two-time defending champion and top-seeded Lily Olson of Edgewood with a 6-1, 6-3 victory in the Division 2 championship match. This is the second straight season that Wang, a University School of Milwaukee sophomore, has played Olson for the title. It was Wang's third win over Olson in four total meetings across all competitions, including the last two D2 singles title matches.

In addition to Wang’s victory, Isabel Werner ’24 and Mia Darr ’25 won the title match in doubles.

If USM can continue the winning streak and can claim back-to-back team titles in Madison next weekend, they can become the first program in the current two-division format that debuted in 1994 to win the team title, the singles title, and the doubles title in the same postseason.
