University School of Milwaukee welcomed author Andy Griffiths on Monday, April 14. Griffiths spoke to students in 1st through 5th grades about his writing process and inspiration for stories. Griffiths is one of Australia’s most popular children’s authors. His books are published all over the world and include the JUST! books, the Treehouse series, and his latest book, “You and Me and The Land of Lost Things,” which features the reader as one of the main characters.
To prepare for Griffiths’s visit, many students were excited to make personal “adventure helmets” to celebrate the first book in his new series, "Adventures Unlimited: The Land of Lost Things.” Parents were invited to purchase autographed copies of the book from Boswell Book Company.
Many thanks to USM’s Parents’ Association, which sponsored his visit, and Preschool and Lower School Librarian Dolores Brown who sourced cardboard boxes and materials to make helmets.
