The USM boys’ hockey team volunteered last week at St Ben’s Community Meal site, serving dinner to the community. In addition to helping serve, 24 players donated funds to cover the cost of the food, with many team parents also volunteering to prepare casserole dishes. Thanks to their efforts, more than 150 people received a warm meal.
Players greeted guests, served, and cleared tables to make room for more patrons. The experience helped them to bond at the beginning for their season while supporting their community.
“I’m extremely proud that our team wants to represent USM positively on the ice and in our greater community,” said Corbin McGuire, boys' hockey varsity head coach. “This opportunity allowed us to share experiences away from the hockey rink as we look forward to the season.”
Fans are invited to see the Wildcats take on Marquette in their home opener on Tuesday, Nov. 26, with the junior varsity team playing at 5 p.m. and the varsity team at 7 p.m. Go Wildcats!
