End-of-year Concerts Share Joy of Music

Music education is alive and well in every division at University School of Milwaukee. The Virginia Henes Young Theatre was packed with visitors throughout the month of May as choir students sang and band and orchestra students played for the below performances: 

Middle School choir concert, May 13
Preschool-Kindergarten Music Together concert, May 14
1st and 2nd grade choir concert, May 14
3rd and 4th grade choir concert, May 14
Middle School band/orchestra concert, May 20
Upper School band/orchestra/choir concert, May 21 

“It was a joy to see so many students of all ages perform and showcase their talents at these concerts,” said Steve Hancock, head of school. “It was clear, based on their energy and passion—as well as the strong attendance by their families, our faculty and staff, and other music lovers—that the performing arts are thriving at USM.”

Many thanks to the following teachers for their work to help students: Katie Brister, Lower School music teacher; Andi Franklin, Middle School and Upper School choir teacher; Stephanie Hancock, director of bands; Tracy Huffman, Preschool and Middle School music teacher; Steve Johnson, orchestra director; and Leslie Krueger, collaborative pianist.
