Fourth Career Lunch and Learn Covers Psychology

Upper School students at University School of Milwaukee were invited to attend the fourth career lunch and learn program of the school year, where students have the opportunity to dine with leaders and industry experts to learn more about specific fields of employment. Lunch and learn events are sponsored by the school's Internship and Shadowing committee.  

This career lunch and learn, held on Friday, Feb. 28, covered psychology and featured the following individuals:

Dr. Megan Gliniecki 
Gliniecki is a clinical psychologist licensed to practice in both Wisconsin and Virginia. Her office is located in Thiensville, Wisconsin where she sees patients ages 14 years and up for therapy and diagnostic testing along with her 125 lb. dog, Moose, who serves as her back-up therapist. Gliniecki earned her bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and completed two years of a doctoral program in organic chemistry before deciding to change career paths to work with people in a helping profession. She earned her Ph.D. in clinical psychology at UTSouthwestern Medical Center, and has held teaching roles at various institutions including Loyola University Medical School, the University of Maryland, and Virginia Wesleyan College. Gliniecki also wrote and edited undergraduate psychology textbooks, and was hired by the State of California to assist with writing for their Open Educational Resources, which is an effort to create textbooks that can be accessed for free by students.

Brigid Miller 
Miller is a therapist at North Shore Center in Mequon, Wisconsin, where she sees individual adults, couples, families, and adolescents. She works with clients on a range of issues including anxiety, depression, trauma, family or relationship conflict, and life transitions. She holds a Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from Northwestern University, where she served as a teaching assistant for a popular undergraduate course on relationships, and published and presented an academic paper on adolescent girls and autism. Prior to becoming a therapist, Miller spent almost two decades in communications, where she led media relations and crisis communications at Marquette University, and served as a communications director on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism with distinction from University of Wisconsin - Madison.
