Girls’ Varsity Ski Takes 2nd at State

University School of Milwaukee’s girls’ varsity ski team took 2nd place at the WIARA Division 2 Wisconsin State Ski and Snowboard Championships, held in February at Mt. La Crosse. This is the second consecutive year that the ski team competed at state, having won the state championship last year.

Seven USM skiers raced in the meet as part of a statewide field of more than 140 competitors: Mia Darr ’25 (27th), Addie Darrow (146th), Clare Holton ’27 (103rd), Simrin Patel ’27 (127th), Sophia Torinus ’25 (90th), Marlies Westveer ’26 (49th), and Marina Wigdale ’25 (31st).

In ski racing, the top four finishers’ placement in each event are combined for the team score. Only team scores are separated by division. Skiers from Divisions 1 and 2 raced against each other in all three events. 

USM’s finishers in each event were:

Slalom: USM took 2nd place in D2 and 11th place overall

Giant Slalom: USM took 3rd place in D2 and 12th place overall

Super-G: USM took 4th place in D2 and 14th place overall
