Congratulations to Robert Loth, fleet mechanic at University School of Milwaukee, who has been selected as the 2025 Outstanding Mechanic by the Wisconsin School Bus Association. The award is given annually to one outstanding mechanic and one outstanding bus driver across the entire state. The mechanic must have at least three years of experience working on school buses, and the award is meant to highlight the important role that this person plays in promoting safety, education, and professionalism.
Loth is responsible for maintaining all 11 of USM’s school buses, two vans, and all of the equipment and vehicles used by the school’s grounds, maintenance and facilities, and safety and security teams. He ensures all vehicles are running optimally and meet or exceed all federal and state safety requirements. In addition, Loth serves as a backup driver for bus routes, field trips, and charters when needed.
"Robert is truly the MVP of our transportation team,” said Andy Fitzgerald, associate director of Auxiliary Programs, who nominated Loth. “He is an outstanding and knowledgeable mechanic who always goes above and beyond. Having him on staff greatly reduces the school’s overall repair costs and, more importantly, ensures our vehicles stay up and running. Furthermore, he is a joy to work with and always does everything with a great attitude and a smile on his face.”
Loth will be recognized and accept the award at the convention luncheon on June 18, 2025.
