Upper School students at University School of Milwaukee were invited to attend the third career lunch and learn program of the school year, where students have the opportunity to dine with leaders and industry experts to learn more about specific fields of employment. Lunch and learn events are sponsored by the Internship and Shadowing committee.
This career lunch and learn, held on Friday, Jan. 24, covered dentistry and featured the following individuals:
- Dr. Julie Melbinger-Wagner, who has 18 years of experience working as a licensed dentist. She received both her undergraduate bachelor of science and doctor of dental surgery degrees from Marquette University, and completed a general practice residency at the V.A. Zablocki Medical Center in Milwaukee.
- Dr. Clemens Stoeckl, a practicing general dentist in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin. He held his own general practice, Stoeckl Family Dentistry, for 45 years in various locations in Milwaukee and Germantown. Seven years ago he joined Forward Dental Group and relocated to Menomonee Falls. He also was an associate clinical professor at Marquette University School of Dentistry for over 30 years. He is a proud father of three USM graduates: Christopher Stoeckl ’91, current Kindergarten Teacher Andrea (Stoeckl) Burlew ’93, and Maria Mattera ’95, and grandfather to eight grandchildren of which three are current USM students: Elizabeth Burlew ’28, William Burlew ’28, and Peyton Burlew ’32.
Speakers discussed their educational and career journeys into public service and public policy, shared what they foresee in their fields, and offered insider advice to students who hope to follow the path to a career in government and public policy.
Additional lunch and learn events are being planned for later this school year, and all Upper School students are invited to attend.
Many thanks to USM’s Internship and Shadowing committee and Parents’ Association for assistance with planning and scheduling. Any individuals interested in speaking at future events should contact internship@usm.org for more information.
