Upper School Promotes Resilience

Upper School Promotes Resilience

Upper School students at University School of Milwaukee hosted a resilience week from February 18 through 21. Organized by the Upper School REDgen student chapter, the week—which followed USM’s midwinter break—included a series of events and activities to promote conversations around resilience.

Events included a craft-and-relax event, where students could watch a movie and make lip balm during Community Time; and writing “Lovely Letters” during FLEX time, with students sharing messages of gratitude and positivity to others in the USM community. “February can be a dreary month at school, so the REDgen students planned initiatives designed to focus on joy, community, and gratitude,” said Lizzy Perry, Upper School counselor and REDgen faculty co-advisor.

Promoting conversations around resilience, and sharing resources for mental health awareness, support USM’s guiding principle of community and the school’s efforts to provide a physically and emotionally safe environment for students, faculty, and staff.

Many thanks to Upper School REDgen student leaders; Perry; and Joe Eason, Upper School history teacher and REDgen faculty co-advisor, for their work to make these events happen.
