USM Community Celebrates Earth Day

Members of the University School of Milwaukee community celebrated Earth Day by participating in a city-wide clean-up event on Saturday, April 26. USM students, parents, alumni, faculty, and staff gathered at Lake Park to pick up trash and keep our open spaces beautiful. They joined thousands of volunteers across the city of Milwaukee, in partnership with Milwaukee Riverkeeper, to celebrate Earth Day. Milwaukee Riverkeeper provided trash bags, gloves, and T-shirts.

After the clean-up event, guests were invited to attend Rock the Green’s 14th annual Earth Day Celebration, which is a zero waste music festival focused on sustainability and founded by USM alumna Lindsay Stevens ’89.

The USM community portion of the larger event was organized by Will Piper ’96, assistant director of alumni relations and reunion giving, and sponsored by the school’s Alumni Association. Prior to the cleanup, guests enjoyed bagels and coffee. Many thanks to all who participated!
