Preschool teachers at University School of Milwaukee hosted the annual fall festival for prekindergarten and junior kindergarten students and their families on Thursday, Oct. 24. Children enjoyed many fun activities, including a giant leaf pile to jump in, games, snacks, and a special area where families could get their photos taken. Each classroom contributed something to the event, from collecting leaves to making bean bags for cornhole, hand-painted signs, a tablecloth, and more.
Prior to the festival, junior kindergarten students visited Barthel Fruit Farm in Mequon, Wisconsin where they harvested delicious, locally grown apples and pumpkins for the event. After the fall festival, the extra apples that the students harvested were turned into fresh, pressed apple cider with help from Kip Jacobs ’74, outdoor education coordinator.
During the festival visitors utilized the outdoor education classroom, which originally opened in fall of 2018 and was updated in 2022. The outdoor space was designed by landscape architect Karey Servis ’72, supported by the Parents’ Association, and provides a dedicated space where Preschool and Lower School students can participate in outdoor learning.
