University School of Milwaukee students had an outstanding showing at the WIAA Division 2 state track and field meet in La Crosse, Wisconsin on Friday, June 5 and Saturday, June 6. At the meet, Austin Jarmuz ’27 medaled, finishing in 6th place in the 3,200 meter event with a personal-record finish of 9:18.54; Anastasia Marich ’26 set a new school record of 2:17.68 in the 800 meter event; and Brooklyn Easley ’29 also set a new school record of 15.93 in the 100 meter hurdles event. Marich’s record of 2:17.68 tops the previous record of 2:18.44 set by Cate Kohli ’27 in 2025, and Easley’s time of 15.93 beats the previous record of 16.02, which she set in May.
Overall, the girls’ team earned 14 points for a tie in 19th place. The 3,200-meter relay team consisting of Cate Kohli '27, Anastasia Marich ’26, Ksenija Marich '29, and Ainsley Polston ’28 finished in 4th place with a time of 9:34.27. Polston also earned 5th in the 1,600 (4:59.38) and 7th in the 3,200 (11:20.7), while Anastasia was 8th in the 800 (2:17.68) and Kohli was 7th in the 1,600 (5:07.92).
For the boys, in addition to Jarmuz’s 6th place finish, Beckett Newman ’28 finished in 10th place in the 800 meter event with a time of 1:58.76.
