Concerts and Performances Cap the Year

Music education and performing arts are alive and well at University School of Milwaukee. The Virginia Henes Young Theatre was packed with visitors throughout the month of May as choir students sang, band and orchestra students played, and Upper School students showcased a wide array of talents for the below performances:

Upper School band/orchestra/choir concert: May 12
Preschool-Kindergarten Music Together Showcase, May 13
1st and 2nd grade choir concert, May 13
3rd and 4th grade choir concert, May 13
Upper School One Acts, May 18
Middle School band/orchestra concert, May 19
Middle School choir concert, May 20
Happy Harmonies Honors Choir and Lower School Orchestra Concerts: May 27

“It is a joy to see so many students of all ages perform and showcase their talents at these concerts,” said Steve Hancock, head of school. “It was clear, based on their energy and passion—as well as the strong attendance by their families, our faculty and staff, and other music lovers—that the performing arts are thriving at USM.”

Many thanks to the following individuals for their work to help students: Taylor Adams, theatre technical director; Katie Brister, Lower School music teacher; Andi Franklin, Middle School and Upper School choir teacher; Stephanie Hancock, director of bands; Steve Hancock, head of school; Tracy Huffman, Middle School music teacher; Joan Nowaczynski, collaborative pianist; and Christopher Vance, Lower School theatre teacher and Preschool and Lower School music teacher.
