USM Administrators Share Their Expertise

USM Administrators Share Their Expertise

In addition to being resting and relaxing, summer is a popular time for University School of Milwaukee faculty and staff to explore various professional development opportunities. Several USM faculty and staff members were invited to share their professional knowledge and expertise with colleagues and others.

Claudia Fritz, Director of Enrollment Management

Fritz was invited to be a guest on the podcast We Admit, hosted by Janice Crampton of the Association of Independent School Admission Professionals (AISAP). Fritz shared her journey, her passion for admissions, and how she’s helping USM grow.

Elaine Griffin, Head of Middle School

Griffin was selected to serve on the Independent Schools Association of the Central States (ISACS) administrative services committee, one of seven standing committees of the ISACS board. The committee promotes the professional growth of independent school administrators. Griffin’s term begins in September 2025 and ends in April 2028.

Later this month, Griffin is leading a virtual workshop called "Understanding and Supporting Neurodiversity in the Classroom" for The Center for Spiritual and Ethical Education (CSEE). Twenty-seven teachers from across the country signed up to learn from Griffin about what USM’s Middle School teachers do to foster belonging and implement instructional strategies that honor all learners.

In addition, Griffin will be moderating the student panel at the United Community Center’s College Prep Rally: Back to School Edition. She also wrote two articles that have been published online, one about adolescent friendships for the NAIS Ideas Blog and another about character education for The Educator’s Room

Liz Jackson, Director of College Guidance; and Brian Hendricks, Associate Director of College Guidance

Jackson and Henricks presented at the Association of College Counselors in Independent Schools (ACCIS) annual conference in June. They, along with Zach Klonsinski from the University of Notre Dame, gave a presentation titled "Equity and Ethics in Independent School College Counseling," in which participants discussed case studies portraying common college counseling situations from independent schools involving questions about ethics and equity.

Tim Williams, Director of Athletics

Williams presented at the prestigious 2025 Southern Teachers athletics retreat in June, delivering an insightful and engaging session titled "Worst Habits for ADs and How to Avoid Them." The retreat was attended by athletic directors from independent schools throughout the country and designed to help them enhance their program and hone their leadership.
