Building Resilience

Building Resilience

University School of Milwaukee, in partnership with REDgen, hosted its final speaker series event of the 2018–19 school year on Monday, April 8 with Dr. Suniya Luthar. Luthar spoke about her research on vulnerability and resilience among various populations including youth in poverty, teens in upper-middle class families, and parents in high-achieving communities.

As part of her visit, Luthar led a presentation and discussion with USM and other area teachers and administrators earlier in the afternoon.

Luthar is foundation professor of psychology at Arizona State University, professor emerita at Columbia University Teachers College, and founder and executive director of Authentic Connections.

The USM/REDgen Speaker Series is a partnership between University School of Milwaukee and REDgen, a Milwaukee-based organization which fosters active community conversations around what it means to live a healthy, balanced life with authentic success. This is the third year of the partnership and speaker series events.
