End of an Era

End of an Era

Members of the USM community gathered on Thursday, May 9 to bid “adieu” to Pamela Nosbusch, who retired in June after 41 years at USM. Nosbusch’s incredible career has spanned multiple roles in the Middle School, from French teacher to world languages department chair, academic dean and, most recently, head of Middle School. Middle School students threw a surprise assembly for her, where she was greeted by members of both her immediate and extended family, faculty, parents, alumni, staff, and even retired faculty members who returned to extend their good wishes. After the assembly, guests were invited to the Jack Olson ’67 Commons were refreshments were served and memories were shared.

“I was struck from early on by how open minded and flexible Pam could be,” said Head of School Laura Fuller. “She’s always willing to listen to another point of view and consider another opinion. The story is that USM administrators had to ask her three times to take the job. She kept saying no, and she was pulled into it with great reluctance. But aren’t we so lucky that she did.”
