Field Hockey Wins State
The University School of Milwaukee girls’ field hockey team won the state championship on Oct. 16, 2021 with a 4–1 win against Arrowhead High School. The win was the frosting on the cake of an undefeated season for the team, and is the 11th time USM field hockey has won the state title, with the most recent title coming in 2014.
“The 2021 state championship was the culmination of a season of hard work, determination, and perseverance,” said Andrea Burlew ’93, field hockey head coach and USM kindergarten teacher. “We have a group of skilled and determined field hockey athletes. Our undefeated record and state championship win are amazing rewards for all our hard work. I am incredibly proud of our student athletes for always challenging one another to be their very best, displaying the highest level of sportsmanship, and playing as a field hockey family.”
