Step Inside the Magic of Learning at USM

See our youngest Wildcats in action! From the joyful hum of discovery in our Preschool classrooms to the confident voices of Lower School students sharing their ideas, you'll get an authentic, in-the-moment glimpse of what makes USM extraordinary.

During your visit, you will:

Walk right into active classrooms and witness collaborative learning in real time.
Chat with our talented and experienced faculty about how they spark curiosity and build strong foundations.
Meet school leaders and current parents who can share their USM stories.

Discover USM: All-School Open House

Join us for our signature admissions event and see why families choose our vibrant and supportive community. During this special morning, you will experience USM in action—observe classes, connect with faculty and school leaders, and hear directly from current parents and students about what makes our school extraordinary.

What to Expect

An all-school welcome and overview.
Division-specific sessions to learn about the USM journey.
Guided tours of campus, including classroom visits while school is in session.
Opportunities to talk with current parents, students, teachers, and administrators.

This is our largest event of the year—and your chance to discover what sets USM apart as one of the nation's premier independent schools.

This event is designed for parents, but we welcome children aged 10 and older to attend. We invite younger children to join parents for a personal tour, or a future event, such as Making the Most of Middle School or a Preschool and Lower School Open House.

Registration is required and registered guests will receive event details, including parking information and helpful reminders, prior to the event. The event will take place from 9 to 11 a.m., and guests are invited to arrive beginning at 8:45 a.m.

Registration for this event will open in early January.

Other Ways to Experience USM

Shadow Visits

Students who are interested in attending USM for grade K-12 are invited to attend a shadow visit day. This is the perfect opportunity for your child to experience our school firsthand, and is an integral part of the application process. Your child will be paired with a current student, and they will take part in classes, lunch, and community-building activities throughout the day. Families may schedule a shadow visit once they have submitted their enrollment application. To learn more about shadow visits, please contact admissions@usm.org or 414.540.3320.

Preschool Playgroups

One highlight of the Preschool application process (PK and JK) is to visit campus with your little one(s) for a playgroup. Children will visit with members of our Preschool team, engage in activities, and enjoy open play. Observing play and interacting with your children allows our Preschool team to evaluate early skills and developmental milestones.

While children are playing, parents will be able to ask questions about our programs, hear about our educational philosophy, and tour the campus.

Personal Tours

We are excited to welcome your family for a personal tour of USM. Our tours, guided by a member of our Enrollment Management office, are your chance to explore our vibrant learning community and get a firsthand look at what makes USM unique. As we tour classrooms, hallways, and facilities, you will experience the environment where our students grow as learners, leaders, and citizens. Along the way, we will answer any questions that you may have about our curriculum, programs, and community. Let's begin this journey together!
