The Polly and Henry Uihlein Ice Arena is our premier skating and hockey facility with multiple locker rooms, a shooting skills development area, a heated lobby and concession area, as well as bleachers for safe viewing. The rink is used as a dry-land training facility between mid-March and mid-June while the ice surface is out.

USM is extremely grateful to the families and individuals who have stepped forward to make capital gifts to improve USM’s outdoors athletic facilities.

The initiative has allowed University School to install two new synthetic turf fields, bleachers, security fencing with ticket taking capability, and a press box- upgrades that will substantially benefit all students at USM. This state-of-the-art athletic complex helps ensure all aspects of a USM education lead to the Experience for a Lifetime for our students.

Ken Laird Field is a lighted, artificial surface used predominantly for football and soccer contests. This field may also be utilized for boys and girls lacrosse as well as field hockey.

Berms are gone, the field had all of the natural turf removed, and a 6” layer of open graded stone and under-drain system was installed above a permeable geo-textile membrane. After that a complete synthetic grass system with a 70%/30% rubber/sand infill. The infill is a homogenous mixture of washed silica sand and ambient ground recycled crumb rubber. This system meets all ASTM G-max standards.

Liz Krieg Field is an artificial surface used principally for field hockey, along with boys and girls lacrosse.

Liz Krieg Field features durable team shelters designed to protect players and coaches from the elements and give our field a professional look.

The field includes a security fence, a new scoreboard, and stadium-style bleachers for spectator viewing.

Don Forti Stadium is an attractive, elevated bleachers system featuring clear span I-beam construction as well as a safety guardrail, aisles with handrails, entry stairs, anodized aluminum seat planks, double mill finish aluminum foot planks, and riser plank on all rows to meet building and safety codes, as well as all scoping and technical requirements for accessibility to buildings and facilities by individuals with disabilities under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990.

Don Forti Stadium is crowned with a customized press box that includes seating for eight coaches and three game workers, interior partition walls, a camera deck with an interior access hatch and ladder, and has wireless internet access.

Along with the 750 permanent seats in Don Forti Stadium, 250 portable bleacher seats have been constructed and are available to meet the WIAA's minimum of 1,000 seats.

Tom "Butch" Richardson Track is a six-lane composite running track than encircles Ken Laird Field.

Charles James Field is an irrigated, natural grass dedicated soccer facility for boys and girls and appointed with 150 stadium-style bleacher seats and a scoreboard.

The James Laing Tennis Center has eight courts, viewing areas, and a player's hut.

Built in 2021, Wildcat Park is a synthetic turf, multi-purpose, athletic facility primarily used for baseball. Wildcat Park features stadium-style seating behind home plate with additional bleacher seating down the foul lines, a scoreboard, dugouts, elevated press box, and the Joe Lubar '08 Baseball Training Facility.

The Joe Lubar '08 Training Facility is an artificial-surfaces, state-of-the-art baseball training center, featuring batting cages, complete pitching stations, and soft-toss stations.

USM has a comprehensive Fitness Center with strength, cardiovascular, and flexibility training areas staffed by our fitness center coordinator and strength and conditioning coach.

• Two competition-sized gymnasiums for Middle and Upper School physical education classes are also used for athletic practices and contests.

• A full-sized Lower School gymnasium with scoreboard and bleachers is used for physical education classes, the School's After School Program, and athletic events.

• USM also has an auxiliary gymnasium for multi-purpose use including physical education classes, athletic events, and by users of the Fitness Center.

USM has a multi-functional performance studio used for drama classes, dance, yoga, and other activities.

• Picturesque 4K and 5K cross country trails wind through our 125-acre campus.
• USM has two athletic fields dedicated to Middle School athletic teams.
