Founded in 2018, the University School of Milwaukee robotics program is a school-wide initiative that introduces students to robotics and STEAM fields through coursework and extracurricular opportunities. Utilizing the FIRST program, students of all ages are able to work and think creatively as a team to solve problems and grow academically and socially.

The USM robotics program is proud to feature:

• Three levels of robotics that overlap throughout all three divisions, including FIRST LEGO League (ages 4-16), FIRST Tech Challenge (ages 12-18), and FIRST Robotics Challenge (ages 14-18).
• Numerous opportunities to learn as a team including designing, building, coding, scouting, working on a pit crew, and so much more!
• An extensive robotics alumni network, 80% of whom have gone on to study STEAM-related fields due to the impact of FIRST robotics.
• Mentorship opportunities with teachers, parents, and local STEAM professionals.
• An inclusive atmosphere where all forms of diversity are welcomed and celebrated.
• A 'Girls in STEAM' program aimed at creating an environment where girls can explore STEAM activities and professions without the negative influences of society.
• A commitment to community service, including partnerships with:
  • Operation Dream, which provides opportunities for children in underrepresented areas to explore robotics and STEAM-based learning.
  • Children's Hospital of Wisconsin, which provides STEAM-based enrichment for hospital patients.
  • Medical Makers, an international organization that develops low-cost technologies that save lives, time, and money related to healthcare around the world.
