Theatre Intensive 1 will cover different material than Theatre Intensive 2. This camp culminates in a final showcase on the Friday of the second week.

For campers entering 2nd through 9th grade. Your camper will gain a deeper knowledge of the behind the scenes of theatre design. This camp teaches technical prep for a show, including gathering and making props and extra set pieces, scenic painting, and learning about lights and sound.

Your camper will cycle through the four disciplines (singing, acting, dancing, improv), while also learning about the process of putting on a show, from auditions to rehearsals to closing night.

Your camper will investigate scenes and characters from different shows and deepen their understanding of improv, moving beyond the short form previously covered. This camp culminates in a final showcase on Friday.

Your camper will gain a deeper knowledge of theatre design, as well as the knowledge of how to participate effectively in a theatre run crew. This camp culminates in serving as part of the run crew (backstage) for the Performance Experience 2 performance on Aug. 15.

USM's Theatre Camp is under the umbrella of USM Summer Camps, meaning that all of the policies and procedures of USM Summer Camps are followed by the Theatre Camp. All registration, ETC, and transportation questions are the same as USM Summer Camps.

Please wear clothes that are comfortable to move in. Throughout the day, we will have classes that require movement and dance and some classes that require us to sit and concentrate. If you normally get cold in air conditioning, bring a sweater or sweatshirt! Tennis shoes or gym shoes are preferred since we will be moving, do not wear sandals or boots.

One week camps include:

• Tech Fundamentals 2

Two week camps include:

• Theatre Intensive 1
• Theatre Intensive 2

Four week camps include:

• Performance Experience 1 (grades 2-5)
• Performance Experience 2 (grades 6-9)

Yes, your camper can utilize USM Summer Camps transportation offerings, as long as they are registered to use the van/bus service.

Yes, your camper can participate in the ETC A.M. and P.M. programs, as long as they are registered for those programs.

It is up to each camper what to bring. Keep daily schedules in mind as you plan for weather, environment, and safety. We recommend:

• Sunscreen
• Hat
• Water bottle
• Full-day campers only: If you prefer to bring a packed lunch in a cooler bag/lunch box. USM is a nut-free campus.
• Snacks are provided, but students are welcome to bring their own. USM is a nut-free campus. Additional snacks are recommended if your camper is signed up for morning and/or afternoon E.T.C.
